Alanis Morissette Australian tour cancelled: fans react

Fans who bought tickets to Alanis Morissette’s Australian tour more than two and a half years ago are eager to see the singer’s latest move.

Alanis Morissette pulled the pin out on her upcoming Australian arena tour — leaving fans who’d endured more than two years of rescheduled dates furious.

The singer’s tour, which celebrates 25 years since her iconic breakthrough album Jagged Little Pill, was originally set to take place in April 2020.

The Covid pandemic put an end to that and the tour was then moved to November 2020 – then back to November 2021.

Finally, the dates were pushed back another year to November 2022 – only to be canceled yesterday, more than two and a half years after the tickets initially went on sale, due to the “unprecedented logistical challenges of touring globally in 2022.”

Morrisette herself said in a statement on social media to fans that she was “sad” to cancel the tour – and insisted that although tickets would be refunded, she instead “made it up to myself that I am postponing it for a another time.”

“I love you guys so much, and I can’t wait to get there,” she wrote.

Fans who had paid for their tickets in December 2019 expressed anger and disappointment under the post, with many frustrated that the tour has now been canceled entirely after so much delay from the pandemic.

“We waited so long, even after it was canceled the 1st time. We were happy to wait because the ewe loves you – but this is a kick in the teeth,” wrote one fan.

“I’m waiting to hear from Ticketek about a refund – I doubt I even have the same credit card to be refunded all these years later,” wrote another.

“Imagine looking forward to a concert for over two years and getting nothing,” said another.

“Hold people on for almost 2 and a half years… and then cancel the show. Absolutely f**ked,” another angry fan gasped.

Others were even angrier, with one fan calling the cancellation “pathetic.” Blaming logistics and planning is a way out. You’ve had over 2 years to make it happen. Hell, the Foo Fighters flew in and out for a one-off show and you can’t drag your regrets here for a tour that should have happened 2 years ago.

Morissette’s local tour company, Live Nation Australia, said the singer will try to return to Australia as soon as possible. In a statement, they said that all parties “consider it best to refund cardholders now and have all committed to reschedule these dates as soon as possible.”

“It is very unfortunate that this is now being canceled at a time when travel restrictions have been relaxed when the reason for previous cancellations has been travel restrictions. Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?” joked another cardholder.

Morissette last visited Australia for an acoustic tour in January 2018. Her Jagged Little Pill tour is one of many high profile tours to fall victim to the lingering effects of the pandemic, with arena tours planned by the likes of Rod Stewart, Snoop Dogg , Faith No More, James Blunt and Simple Minds have all canceled in recent months.
