A Burger King employee showed off his 27th anniversary gift and the internet was shocked

Twenty-seven years of service is a big deal no matter where you work, but a Burger King employee’s anniversary gift is going viral right now for all the wrong reasons.

Kevin Ford, 54, a cook and cashier at the Burger King at the Las Vegas airport, recently showed off his 27th anniversary gifts in a video, and the clip has definitely blown up among angry Reddit users.

The video shows Ford working in the kitchen and sorting through his 27-year-old goodie bag. The bag contains a Starbucks tumbler, Lifesavers candies, mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, some pens and a movie ticket.

And that’s it.

The video also says Ford never missed a workday.

Internet users were outraged by the gifts and they grilled Burger King for it online.

“That Burger King employee who got a bag of candy and a Starbucks cup for his 27 NEVER MISS A DAY OFF WORK years of service proves these big companies don’t care,” he tweeted. @smiletinaa_

“I firmly believe that one of the best qualities you can have is that you are very Gluttonous. Constantly wanting more. Losers become complacent. I just watched a video on IG of an employee who has worked at Burger King for 27 years and he received a chocolate gift as a thank you for his services 27 YEARS!!” said @MrOverpaid

“How about your employee who worked 27 years…and got candy and a pen,” tweeted @lovingmykira at Burger King.

Ford recently spoke to TMZ about the video, describing Burger King’s hiring company, HMS Host, as a “great” organization.

He also admitted that the gifts let him down a bit.

“I’m grateful for everything I get. I’m not that kind of person, believe me, I’ve been through a lot,” Ford told TMZ. “It was just stuff they had laying around that they put together, but I was happy about that.”

A Burger King spokesperson told TMZ that the gift was a “peer-to-peer reward in recognition of a short-term positive achievement/experience.”

Burger King also explained that the franchise owner has a “robust employee recognition program that includes recognition of employment milestones and monetary rewards.”

“The Burger King brand and its many franchisees across the country are committed to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the thousands of people who work in a wide variety of roles – all committed to providing our guests with a world-class experience,” the spokesperson added.

An outraged internet user decided to stand up and give Ford a better gift through crowdfunding.

Sierra Nicole has collected $2,000 in donations from her followers to give as gifts to Ford. She later posted a video of their touching conversation on TikTok.

He also gets all my business courses 🙌🏾 Kevin has such a good heart. This made my whole day

Ford’s daughter also started a GoFundMe account to raise money so he could travel to his family in Texas.

The account has raised $19,432 at the time of writing this article.

A trip and $2,000 definitely beats a bag of candy!
